Glasgow Airport welcomes 'flashmob' to promote Scotland
17 Aug 2012

A dancing 'flashmob' made an appearance at Glasgow Airport this week to launch the Best of Scotland campaign.

Twenty-six dancers from the Ballochleam troupe in Falkirk gave a performance for passengers and staff in the terminal building.

The event was staged to mark the beginning of a six-week campaign celebrating the best of Scottish food, drink, culture and entertainment.

More than 1m people are expected to pass through Glasgow Airport during the initiative and will see displays celebrating some of Scotland's best-known brands and exports, including Irn Bru, Tunnock's, Mackie's ice cream and Harris Tweed.

Amanda McMillan, managing director of the base, said: 'Glasgow Airport is for many, their first and last impression of Scotland and our Best of Scotland campaign is a great way to celebrate Scottish produce and culture while also providing entertainment.'

The event is also an opportunity for the airport to highlight its ongoing multi-million pound refurbishment project, which has resulted in a number of new retail and food outlets.
