Japan Airlines to debut new seats on London to Tokyo flights
17 Aug 2012
Japan Airlines has announced plans to introduce a new seat design across all cabin classes on its international fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
The upgraded seats will debut on flights to Tokyo Narita from London Heathrow from January 2013.
Customers will see benefits in comfort, functionality and the overall onboard experience in first, business, premium economy and economy classes, according to Japan Airlines.
The carrier claimed premium economy and economy travellers can expect seats that represent a significant improvement on previous models and are 'arguably comparable to being upgraded a class'.
Another highlight of the initiative is the introduction of fully flat beds in business class, arranged in a layout providing unobstructed aisle access for every passenger.
Takahisa Hatakeyama, vice president of product and service strategy development for Japan Airlines, said: 'Drawing from our customers' feedback, we continue to make earnest efforts in creating services with originality and innovative products that can meet and exceed their expectations.'
Following their debut on the London to Tokyo service, the new seats will be rolled out on routes to New York and other destinations in North America and Europe.
