Barcelona's Museu Picasso to present unique ceramics
3 Sep 2012

Travellers booking hotels in Barcelona for a city break late this year and in early 2013 will be able to visit a new exhibition at the Museu Picasso.

A display commemorating the 30th anniversary of a gift of 41 unique ceramics from Jacqueline Picasso - Pablo Picasso's muse and wife of 20 years - will open at the museum on 26 October and run until 1 April next year.

Jacqueline met the great artist while working as a salesperson at the Madoura pottery in Vallauris in southern France, where she had a close association with the owners Suzanne and Georges Ramie.

All of the items in the donation will be presented in a new installation, giving prominence to the groups of 'plats longs' and decorated 'empreintes originales' - two categories in which Picasso carried out many experiments with ceramics.

An exhibition opening in Barcelona on 29 May next year will feature an extensive selection of the artist's self-portraits.
