Belfast visitors urged to check out local events
7 Sep 2012
Travellers who will be staying in Belfast hotels in the near future have been encouraged to check out some of the events taking place in the city.
Gerry Lennon, chief executive of the Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau, claimed rarely a week goes by without some sort of festival being held in Northern Ireland's capital.
'This autumn we're looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Belfast Festival at Queens … which promises to be bursting full of music, drama, theatre, talks, film, dance and comedy,' he said.
Due to run from 19 October to 4 November 2012, the festival will feature highlights including concerts by Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Ray Davies, and a stage adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysses.
Mr Lennon highlighted some other experiences on offer in the capital city this year, such as Belfast Fashion Week (13 to 21 October) and the Northern Ireland Festival of Racing, which will come to the Down Royal racecourse on 2 November.
