BA teams up with Brand USA

A deal has been announced making British Airways the first founding airline partner in the UK for new tourism marketing body Brand USA.

The carrier will work with the promotional group on various initiatives highlighting the United States' appeal as a travel destination, including advertising campaigns in UK trade and consumer press.

It will also receive exclusive airline recognition and Brand USA benefits in Britain, including priority status on major marketing campaigns.

The American tourism marketing body was established in 2010 to lead the country's first global marketing effort and ultimately boost visitor numbers.

Jay Gray, vice president of business development for Brand USA, said: 'Working with the UK's national carrier ensures the gravitas and long-term commitment that we dedicate to the UK market, the largest overseas visitor market to America.'

Richard Tams, British Airways' head of UK and Ireland sales, said the US is an 'extremely important market' for the airline, which has been flying travellers to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami for over 60 years.
