Italy triumphs at Conde Nast Traveller awards

Italy enjoyed a successful night when Conde Nast Traveller magazine's Readers' Travel Awards ceremony was held at the British Museum in London earlier this month, picking up the title of best country.
The European nation was praised for the quality of its restaurants, the friendliness of its people and its unrivalled culture.
Furthermore, Sicily was voted the world's best island after achieving high scores across the board, particularly in categories covering dining and hospitality.
Other winners at the Readers' Travel Awards 2012 included Sydney, which was named the world's leading city thanks to appealing features including its cleanliness and eco-friendliness, and London (best UK city).
The programme also covered the cruise sector, with Crystal Cruises emerging as the most popular large-ship operator.
In the aviation industry, Singapore Changi topped the airport category, Singapore Airlines was voted the best long-haul leisure carrier and easyJet picked up the top low-cost operator award.
