AmaWaterways to launch Portugal itineraries
5 Nov 2012

AmaWaterways has announced that it will return to the Douro river in Portugal next year following the launch of the brand new luxury vessel AmaVida in March.

The 108-guest ship will offer features including staterooms and suites ranging in size up to 323 sq ft, most of which will have balconies.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a sun deck swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa, as well as flat-screen televisions in their rooms and ship-wide Wi-Fi.

Due to operate between March and November 2013, the new itineraries include a ten-night land and cruise trip with a three-night stay in Lisbon, complimentary excursions in the rural Tras-os-Montes region and a visit to the Unesco World Heritage site of Salamanca.

A 13-night option will begin with three nights in Madrid followed by a sailing along the Douro from the border town of Vega Terron in Spain to Porto in northern Portugal.

Holidaymakers will have the opportunity to see the small town of Pinhao, which is known for its wines.
