Abu Dhabi's tourism industry looks set to benefit from World Travel Market (WTM) 2012, with the destination enjoying a record year at the London event.

The Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA) announced that the Abu Dhabi pavilion secured more than 550 meetings with key business partners.

These included trade contacts and key media representatives to help the emirate promote itself to potential visitors from around the world.

Mubarak Al Nuaimi, international promotions manager at TCA Abu Dhabi, said the delegation experienced strong interest in new tourism developments, attractions and hotel openings, as well as the region's culture and heritage.

'Also, lots of people from the industry have talked to us about the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix and are aware of our packed calendar of events in coming months,' he added.

One of the most high-profile attractions set to open in Abu Dhabi in the near future is Yas Waterworld on Yas Island, which attracted a particularly high number of requests during WTM 2012.
