Belgium boasts 'fantastic' architecture

One of the most memorable experiences on offer to people visiting Belgium is seeing the architecture that defines some of the country's biggest cities, according to a tourist board spokesman.

Andrew Daines, UK and Ireland director for Tourism Flanders-Brussels, said there are some 'fantastic' buildings and structures to see in Brussels and the surrounding region.

He specifically referred to Le Grand Place, describing the Belgian capital's central square and Unesco World Heritage site as 'absolutely breathtaking'.

'There are also cities like Bruges, where the whole of the city centre is a Unesco World Heritage site,' added Mr Daines.

'The architecture is just absolutely stunning.'

One activity recommended by the spokesman is enjoying a Belgian beer or a meal while taking in the sight of some impressive buildings and urban developments.

Before the end of November, the range of attractions on offer in Bruges will be boosted by the opening of the Victoria Museum, which will tell the story of the city from its origins to the present day.
