Croatian destinations win tourism awards
27 Nov 2012

A number of locations and attractions in Croatia have received a boost in profile after being recognised with awards.

The national tourism board revealed that the country as a whole was named up and coming short-haul destination of the year at the Travel Agents Choice Awards 2012.

Pula's Outlook Festival has also been acknowledged, with the Sun naming the event the best rave festival of 2012.

Outlook, which hosts artists representing electronic music genres such as dubstep, will return to Fort Punta Christo in Pula, the largest city in the Istria region in northern Croatia, from 29 August to 2 September this year.

Holidaymakers who do not have much interest in dance music and late-night parties might be more interested to hear that 65 Croatian wines were recognised at the 2012 Decanter World Wine Awards.

A €1.3m (£1.05m) wine tourism project was launched in the country earlier this year, with the aim of making improvements to tasting routes and opening new museums dedicated to the popular beverage.
