2013 to 'set mood' for Visit Malaysia Year

An exciting programme of festivals in 2013 is set to pave the way for Visit Malaysia Year in 2014, the tourism board has said.

The year kicks off with the Thaipusam Festival chariot procession this month and Chinese New Year in February, before the skies fill with colour when the Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival gets underway.

In March, the glamour and excitement of Formula 1 will arrive back at the Sepang Circuit, while in April the Water Festival will help locals and tourists stay cool in the sweltering temperatures.

The Colours of 1Malaysia event takes place in May, before the Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade sees beautifully lit boats providing a wonderful spectacle in June.

Ramadan takes place in July for those with an interest in the spiritual, followed by August's Hari Raya celebrations and the 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival in September.

October kick-starts the Fabulous Food 1Malaysia events, November is the month of the Deepavali festival of lights and the year ends in December with the Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia Dance Tourism Carnival.
