Ghostly plans for Gloucester prison

Ghostly plans for Gloucester prison
5 Feb 2013

Gloucester should be turn into a paranormal tourist attraction when it closes, the city's resident 'Ghost Lady' has said.

Lyn Cinderey of the Gloucester Active Paranormal Society, who runs weekly ghost walks, believes that the prison would make the ideal hotel for people to stay in overnight.

'We do need another tourist attraction in Gloucester and the prison would be perfect,' she told the Citizen. 'We could also do a spooky stay overnight and paranormal event where I am certain people will pay to stay the night in a cell.'

In March, the 222-year-old prison will shut in order to cut costs and Liz Barnwell, destination marketing manager at Marketing Gloucester, said everything is on the table at this stage.

'The more attractions we have in the city the better really,' she told the news provider. 'It's all about getting people to come to the city.'

Gloucester's less spooky attractions include the City Museum, the Norman cathedral and the nearby Forest of Dean.
