A ewe and her two lambs have caused chaos at the Easter egg store of popular Somerset attraction Wookey Hole.

Staff were stunned to find the chocolate-covered ruminants munching their way through the treats, which had just been delivered ahead of Easter weekend.

'It was pretty clear from the chocolate stuck to their wool who was responsible,' commented general manager Daniel Medley.

'There were pallets with 250,000 eggs on them and we believe a few thousand will have to be destroyed.'

Thankfully, suppliers have agreed to send more eggs for the Easter egg competition taking place between 30 March and April 13 at Wookey Hole, a limestone cave in the Mendips that is ideal for cheese making.

Attractions at the site include the Life Size Dinosaurs, Magical Mirror Maze and the Wookey Witch, a rock formation said to be the remains of a witch turned to stone by Father Bernard.
