Dirty linen and towels on sunbeds among top holidaymaker bugbears

Dirty linen has been described as Brits' 'worst holiday nightmare', with 77% of people saying it is enough to put them off their trip.

This was closely followed by drunk/noisy hotel neighbours (72%), being disturbed by the clatter of building works (72%) and being served poor quality hotel food (70%) in the poll conducted by Direct Line. Just over half (51%) said that being hassled by reps to go on excursions gets their goat.

Less bothersome are towels being left on sun loungers, which angers 31% of people, while rain and delayed flights also finished further down the list.

Commenting on the findings, Tom Bishop, head of travel insurance at Direct Line, urged holidaymakers not to suffer in silence.

'Once you arrive on your holiday, if there is any aspect of it that you are unhappy with, don’t be "typically English" - make sure you get something done about it,' he advised.
