India opens first international standard theme park
19 Apr 2013

A new theme park has opened near Mumbai, which claims to be the first in India to compete with other international attractions on the same scale.

Adlabs Imagica uses various aspects of Indian culture as the basis for the rides, which involve furious gods, haunted fortresses and a large dinosaur called Rajasaurus.

The park is the brainchild of Bollywood mogul Manmahon Shetty, who hopes that it will attract three million visitors a year.

He told AFP: 'It was our vision to create an entertainment theme park of international standards in India.'

As well as the rides, tourists can enjoy eating at the Red Bonnet American Diner, the African-themed Zeze Bar and Grill and the Armada Tapas Bar during their visit.

Street artists wander around the park adding to the entertainment and laser shows and stage performances are put on at regular intervals throughout the day.

An adult day ticket to the park is priced at 1,200 rupees (£14.50).ADNFCR-408-ID-801574011-ADNFCR
