Holidaymakers thinking of travelling to Korea could be inclined to do so after spotting Gangnam Style rapper Psy in a new series of tourism adverts.

The singer, whose first single quickly found fame on the internet, will be appearing in the Korea Tourism Organization's (KTO) 'Psy's Wiki Korea' commercials pointing out the country's best attractions and explaining its key cultural sites.

Among the highlights to be shown in the ads will be the Jeju Olle walking trail, Myeongdong shopping area and a pork belly barbecue known in Korean as Samgyeopsal.

Jeon Hyo Sik of the tourism board commented: 'Psy's fans are all over the world regardless of age or region. Hopefully, our promotional videos will attract worldwide attention.'

It comes after South Korea's neighbour to the north warned foreigners to leave before the crisis between the two countries worsened, although it seems tourism numbers have not yet taken a dive in response.

Indeed, the KTO announced a record number of visitors to South Korea in March, with more than one million travellers crossing its borders that month.ADNFCR-408-ID-801577047-ADNFCR
