Heathrow's new T2 to open a year today

Heathrow's new T2 to open a year today
4 Jun 2013

In exactly one year, on 4 June 2014, Heathrow's brand new Terminal 2 will receive its first flight.

The £2.5bn facility is one of the largest privately funded construction projects in the UK and features a main terminal, a satellite pier (T2B), a 1,340-space car park and an energy centre.

Once up and running, it will serve 20m passengers a year and act as home to 23 Star Alliance airlines among others.

'The new Terminal 2 has been designed around the needs of our passengers, to allow them to get to and from their flights as quickly as possible,' commented Heathrow development director John Holland-Kaye.

'Like Terminal 5, it will promise world class customer service and a warm welcome to Britain, which visitors expect from the UK's hub airport.'

Heathrow is currently putting its case forward to the Airports Commission in order to get approval for a third runway, which will allow it to expand the number of flights it operates.ADNFCR-408-ID-801594307-ADNFCR
