Sending a postcard from Italy dearer than from Mexico

Sending a postcard from Italy dearer than from Mexico
19 Jun 2013

The cost of sending a postcard back to the UK from a holiday in Italy or France is twice that of mailing one from Mexico.

That is according to research carried out by the Race It Home app, which investigated the costs associated with traditional postcards in 12 destinations.

A card telling friends that you wish they were there costs £1.08 to send from Cancun in Mexico, but can take up to three weeks to arrive.

Meanwhile posting a card in Italy or France comes with a £2.19 price tag for stamps - more expensive than the £1.94 in the USA.

The most expensive place to mail a postcard back to the UK from is Australia at £2.25, although places like the Maldives were found to be reasonable, charging just £1.28 for postage.

Fewer people are sending postcards back from their holidays due to such costs and the comparative immediacy of messages left on sites such as Facebook.

Just this week it was revealed in a survey by Samsung that holidaymakers are not printing their photos either, as they can share them online instead.ADNFCR-408-ID-801600931-ADNFCR
