Many of us have upheld the stereotypical British sense of prudishness on our annual beach holidays, carefully averting our eyes whenever a local sunworshipper decides to remove more clothes than we're used to.

But according to new research, plenty of travellers are now much more open to the idea of going au naturel on the beach, with one in five saying they would be happy to strip off at a nudist beach while on holiday.

The survey by On The Beach revealed (ooh er!) that visitors aged over 50 are more inclined to go full monty while abroad, while 20 per cent of under-30s seek out naturist areas in order to work on their tan.

Alistair Daly, chief marketing officer at the organisation behind the research, commented: "When on holiday, people often feel more audacious, confident in the knowledge they won't bump into neighbours, colleagues or old friends."ADNFCR-408-ID-801601534-ADNFCR
