Airport worker drives stairs to pick up pizza
28 Jun 2013

A worker has landed himself in hot water with officials after driving a mobile set of stairs normally used by plane passengers to a collect a pizza from a takeaway.

The New York Post published a photo of the man driving the bright blue Southwest Airlines vehicle down 19th Avenue in Queens area of New York City. He had driven it around two miles from La Guardia Airport where he works.

While his bosses shrugged off the incident as 'nothing unusual or out of protocol',  Port Authority (PA) officials were less than impressed.

'This is not acceptable behavior,' Steve Coleman, a PA spokesman, told the news provider. 'We will immediately begin to identify the offending vehicle and driver and will take appropriate action.'

And the Department of Motor Vehicles confirmed that, perhaps unsurprisingly, the cumbersome airport vehicle was not registered for use on public roads.ADNFCR-408-ID-801605853-ADNFCR
