Abu Dhabi's hotels saw a record number of guests coming through their doors in May, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has reported.

Performance was improved across all indicators, from the number of guest arrivals and guest nights to the average length of stay, occupancy levels and revenues, the Khaleej Times reports..

Overall, 232,650 people booked a hotel in Abu Dhabi, up 21% on the same month a year earlier.

Of these, 12,978 came from the UK, up 18% year-on-year, making it the emirate's second largest tourist market behind India during May.

Commenting on the figures, Mubarak Al Muhairi, TCA Abu Dhabi director-general, said: 'This suggests that our campaign to convince travellers of our "more to see and do" destination proposition is converting extended stays.'

Top attractions in Abu Dhabi include its golf courses, luxury shopping malls and excellent weather conditions.ADNFCR-408-ID-801607455-ADNFCR
