Dedication to work affecting holidays

Dedication to work affecting holidays
23 Aug 2013

Brits' dedication to work is affecting the amount of holidays they book, according to new research.

Half of all office staff feel guilty about taking a break and would cancel their time off for an important work commitment, a survey of 1,000 UK employees revealed.

As a result, almost 15% of workers only use up their paid holiday because their company forces them too, with around a third failing to make the most of their entitlement, the Press Association reports.

'UK workers seem to have adopted a range of bad habits associated with their holiday leave,' commented Alex Fleming, operations director at Adecco, which carried out the study.

'It is important to remember that annual leave is a legal entitlement and people should be encouraged to use it.'

Mr Fleming added that fears over job security and leaving colleagues with increased stress could explain the figures.ADNFCR-408-ID-801629049-ADNFCR
