Regardless of whether you live in warm or cold climes, summer is the most popular time of year to travel, according to new research.

Overall, 43% of 750 Americans questioned for the study placed it first, with spring the second most popular season for people to pack their bags.

Autumn came in third place, with winter unsurprisingly in fourth although almost twice as many people from colder climes than warmer climes said winter is actually their favourite time of year to travel - perhaps as they like to jet off in search of some warmth and sun.

'Companies in the travel and hospitality industries may want to note seasonal preferences and adjust their marketing plans accordingly,' commented John McCarthy, president of GO Airport Express, which carried out the study.

'While summer is the universally preferred season, those living in southern climates tend to stay home in the winter.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801635360-ADNFCR
