Versace mansion to become hotel

Versace mansion to become hotel
18 Sep 2013

A Miami mansion formerly owned by Gianni Versace has been bought for $41.5m (£26m) by a hotel group.

VM South Beach LLC beat off competition from the billionaire businessman Donald Trump and now plans to turn the Italian designer's Florida home into a boutique hotel, the Miami Herald reports.

With ten bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the lavish Casa Casuarina will hardly need a lot of work to turn it into a hotel, with the new owners' main obstacle most likely to be persuading the Versace family to let them use the designer's name.

The owners are also planning to operate the mansion in conjunction with Hotel Victor next door, which they already operate.

'They're so thrilled they can now combine these properties to offer top-quality entertainment and hospitality to their customers,' Ralph Bekkevold, a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in Miami, which represents the winning bidders, told the news provider.ADNFCR-408-ID-801638871-ADNFCR
