Africa enjoying hotel boom

Booking a hotel in Lagos should soon be a lot easier with 25 new hotels in the pipeline.

The Nigerian capital is just one of a number of African cities experiencing a hotel boom, with 191 new resorts opening on the continent, increasing capacity by some 40,000 rooms, Travel Daily News reports.

Another popular destination growing its offering, according to the Top Hotel Projects data, is Hurghada on the Red Sea in Egypt, where 2,200 new hotel rooms are planned.

Currently, one of Africa's largest hotel construction projects is the 1,020-room Atalayoun Golf Resort in Nador, Morocco, set to open in June next year.

Hotel capacity is currently an issue being debated at the Africa Hotel Investment Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, a country that itself wants to add 10,000 more rooms over the coming years in order to attract a greater number of tourists, Standard Media reports.ADNFCR-408-ID-801640695-ADNFCR
