Young travellers holiday spending up 40%

Young travellers spent an average of £2,500 each on foreign holidays last year, according to a new report.

Fresh research by the World Youth Student and Educational Travel Confederation (WYSE) - the world's largest network of youth and student travel operators - reveals that this is an increase of 40% over the past six years, the Telegraph reports.

This shows that the global economic recession, which began in 2008, has not had any impact on young people's desire to explore the world.

'The truth is that when the going gets tough, the young keep on travelling,' the WYSE's Laura Daly told the news provider.

Ms Daly added that there could be a long-term financial incentive fuelling this increase in travel spending: 'Rather than simply being seen as a leisure activity, travel is now increasingly viewed as a way of having experiences that help to enhance a CV.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801640521-ADNFCR
