One-fifth of Brits planning a winter holiday

One-fifth of Brits planning a winter holiday

Winter holidays are set to be popular this year, with nearly one in five people (19%) planning to travel overseas towards the end of 2013.

This is according to new research from travel association ABTA, which found that while demand for ski trips and city breaks is increasing, sunny escapes are the most sought-after holidays.

Indeed, 40% of individuals going abroad before the year is out are after some winter sun, and this type of vacation is high on the list of priorities with 55 to 64-year-olds, 59% of which were found to be planning a sun-drenched holiday.

Victoria Bacon, head of communications at ABTA, said winter can be a great time for a break as there is no other season where such a range of trips are available to Britons.

She added: 'It's no wonder that taking a break at this time of year is consistently popular whether people are seeking sun, snow or a city break.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801644312-ADNFCR
