Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) looks set to achieve its 2.5m visitor target for 2013 after 251,504 stayed in its accommodation during August.

These official figures released by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) show a 37% increase on the same month last year.

Brits represent the second biggest market in visiting Abu Dhabi, with no fewer than 96,923 checking into the Emirate over the month.

Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general of TCA Abu Dhabi, said: 'As we move into 2014 we will focus heavily on the messaging that Abu Dhabi is a luxury, yet highly affordable destination. We now have 146 resorts, hotels and hotel apartments to choose from and a room stock of 25,300.'

Despite strong figures so far for 2013, there are still a number of exciting events to come in 2013, which are likely to attract visitors.

These include the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November and the National Day Festival, which falls in December.ADNFCR-408-ID-801644706-ADNFCR
