A British PR firm is launching a campaign aimed at persuading holidaymakers to book flights to Egypt

Rooster has been hired by the Egyptian tourism board to bolster arrivals in the wake of the political unrest that has seen the number of visitors to the country fall.

This decline is a big blow to Egypt's economy as it is home to some of the world's top tourist attractions, including the pyramids, the Valley of the Kings and the Red Sea, with many locals reliant on tourism to make a living.

Commenting on the move, Omayma El Husseini, director for UK & Ireland at the Egyptian Tourist Authority, said: 'We want to effectively communicate that the country's key tourism destinations are safe to visit.'

According to the latest advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Egypt's popular Red Sea resorts, including Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada, are currently not off limits to tourists.ADNFCR-408-ID-801647926-ADNFCR
