Brits flocking to Germany

The number of Brits booking hotel rooms in Germany saw a large increase in July, according to the latest figures.

Date from Destination Deutschland shows that there were almost 561,500 overnight stays in Germany by visitors from the UK in July - an increase of 10.6% year on year. Overall, visitor numbers were up by 8.1% in the first seven months of 2013, Breaking Travel News reports.

Germany's wealth of choice is being credited for the rise in popularity, with cultural city breaks on offer alongside stays in the countryside.

'We're delighted that so many visitors from the UK are finding their ideal holiday in Germany and long may it continue,' commented Klaus Lohmann, director UK and Ireland at the German National Tourist Office.

Munich recently hosted its famous Oktoberfest beer festival, which attracted some 6.4m visitors - many of whom were from the UK. ADNFCR-408-ID-801648995-ADNFCR
