An angler from Surrey has landed a record breaking fish while on holiday in Thailand

Keith Williams needed the assistance of a friend to lift the enormous 9st 6lb carp out of the water at Gillham's fishing resort in Krabi.

The incredible catch was the perfect birthday present for the 56-year-old, who had travelled to Thailand to celebrate the special occasion.

'He told his wife that he could feel in his bones that he was going to catch a special fish that day,' resort owner Stuart Gillham told Metro.co.uk.

‘In the days after this capture Keith was walking around in a daze.'

Asia is renowned as a premier fishing holiday destination due to the enormous size of the local species. A Siamese giant carp caught in Thailand in 2007 by a local fisherman called Kik weighed an estimated 19st. In comparison, the biggest carp landed in UK waters weighed 'just' 4st 10lbs. ADNFCR-408-ID-801650986-ADNFCR
