Egypt predicts tourism lift in 2014
7 Nov 2013

Egypt is hoping for an uptick in visitor numbers from the UK next year after a difficult 2013.

With many countries having lifted their travel advisories, Egypt is waiting for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to follow suit before launching a tourism drive.

The country is already making use of webcam technologies to show tourists exactly what is happening in key resorts in real time.

"2014 will bring a renewed and reinvigorated interest in Egypt as the ideal medium-haul historical, cultural and beach destination for British ... travellers,' commented Egypt's minister of tourism Hisham Zaazou at the World Travel Market in London.

'The destination's abundance of world-class tourism attractions will again see travellers choosing Egypt for their holidays year-round.'

Mr Zaazou added that Egypt is the top destination in the Middle East and Africa, and pointed out that a third of Brits who have visited Egypt have done so three times or more. ADNFCR-408-ID-801657963-ADNFCR
