Egypt on course to match 2012's visitor numbers

Egypt is on course to match the visitor numbers it recorded for 2012, despite a tricky year.

According to the country's tourism minister Hisham Zaazou, the country is welcoming 65,000 British visitors per month and is heading for a total of one million for the whole of 2013 - just shy of what it achieved last year.

'The destination is resilient and the British public wants to come to Egypt,' the minister told Travel Weekly at an industry dinner in London.

'I believe they are coming, which will result in these favourable conditions.'

At the World Travel Market earlier this week, Mr Zaazou said he was hopeful that there would be an increase in tourists visiting Egypt next year - with the country keen to launch a travel marketing blitz once all advisories have been lifted.

It has also installed webcams to show holidaymakers what is happening in real time. ADNFCR-408-ID-801658588-ADNFCR
