Scottish airports welcoming more passengers
11 Nov 2013

More passengers are using Scotland's main airports, with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports all seeing an increase in numbers last month.

Edinburgh Airport saw the biggest spike, with passenger numbers rising by 8.7% year on year to more than 900,000. This was largely thanks to international passenger growth, which exceeded 11%.

There was a 3.8% uptick at Aberdeen in October, when almost 328,000 people transited through the airport, while Glasgow welcomed 714,000 passengers - an increase of 2.6% on the same period 12 months previous.

'Edinburgh and Scotland continue to remain places where people want to visit for work or leisure,' commented Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport.

All three airports will be expecting to see even more visitors in 2014, when Glasgow hosts the Commonwealth Games and Gleneagles holds the Ryder Cup of golf - two of the world's biggest sporting events.ADNFCR-408-ID-801659272-ADNFCR
