Great Lakes promoting its sporting attractions

Great Lakes promoting its sporting attractions

The Great Lakes region of the USA is hoping to attract more people to holiday there by promoting its sports offering.

Much like Scotland is doing, tourism officials are playing up on the area's Ryder Cup status - it's hosting the event in 2016 and 2020 - in a brand new brochure focusing on sport.

There are professional teams in the Great Lakes region covering American football, baseball, hockey, basketball and football, and the brochure includes unusual facts about these sports, teams and their stadiums.

'Sport draws people together, and when you are on holiday in the US watching a sports event is a great way to add an extra dimension to your holiday,' commented Toby McCarrick, the executive director of the Great Lakes USA.

It ties in with Discover USA's brand new interactive map of the USA, which shows visitors what is on offer across all 50 states in video form. ADNFCR-408-ID-801659596-ADNFCR
