Whistler to open early

Whistler to open early
15 Nov 2013

If you've booked a ski holiday in Whistler this year, you'll be delighted to hear that the Canadian resort is opening early.

As a result of low temperatures and heavy snowfall supported by artificial snow making, the slopes are opening two weeks sooner than planned - boding well for the season ahead.

Five lifts will enter service this Saturday (16 November) on Whistler Mountain, although Blackcomb Mountain will remain off limits until it opens as scheduled on 28 November.

The Whistler-Blackcomb ski area is renowned for its consistent snowfall, receiving almost 12m of powder each winter - allowing it to offer one of the longest ski seasons in North America.

Between the two mountains, skiers have access to more than 200 marked runs, five parks, a super pipe and a snowcross track spread across 3,300 hectares of skiable terrain that caters as well for beginners as seasoned experts.ADNFCR-408-ID-801661300-ADNFCR
