Hong Kong celebrating WinterFest

Hong Kong celebrating WinterFest
22 Nov 2013

If you're visiting Hong Kong between now and 31 December, you'll have the chance to join in with WinterFest.

Blending Western Christmas tradition and the Eastern passion for festivals, WinterFest will see the city's skyscrapers lit up in festive reds and greens, while all the shops will be decked out.

The centerpiece of the festival is WISH - a 15m-high sculpture depicting three dandelions losing their seeds in the wind. As music plays, WISH changes colour in a choreographed display.

Other activities include the annual Christmas street party in Lan Kwai Fong and 'Twinkle Twinkle Wishing Star' at The Peak.

During WinterFest, shopaholics will love the pre-holiday and lavish display, including the 1881 Heritage mall, which will transform its Grand Piazza into a Renaissance-inspired wonderland.

Staying on for the New Year's Eve celebrations is also a real treat, with a huge fireworks display the highlight of the evening.ADNFCR-408-ID-801664001-ADNFCR
