More Brits visiting Bermuda
9 Dec 2013

More Brits are catching flights to Bermuda, with 20% more visitors to the island in the third quarter than the same period a year previously.

This is an impressive result for Bermuda given that Office for National Statistics' figures show that visits abroad by UK residents are up only 2% over the last 12 months.

During the quarter, a total of 82,819 visitors flew to the British Overseas Territory, compared to just 80,852 in the previous year.

UK visitors now make up 11% of tourists on the island, which offers more wreck dives than anywhere else in the world, deep sea fishing, golf, spas and beautiful beaches.

'I am thrilled to be welcoming so many UK travellers to our island, whether their journey is for pleasure or business,' commented David Dodwell, chairman of the new Bermuda Tourism Authority.

Bermuda is a six-and-a-half-hour flight from London and lies just off the US coast.ADNFCR-408-ID-801670337-ADNFCR
