BA predicts 'Bumper Holiday Monday'
2 Jan 2014

British Airways has predicted a 'Bumper Holiday Monday' on 6 January, as people rush to book up their summer holidays and take advantage of the deals being offered by operators.

All signs point to a huge day for the travel industry, after a 102% increase in the number of holidays booked on Christmas Day and a 62% uptick on Boxing Day compared to last year, BA reported.

'This [growth] together with signs of an improving economy suggests 'Bumper Holiday Monday' is set to be busier than ever,' BA said.

BA also signalled out Orlando, Barbados, Las Vegas, Barcelona, Dubai, St Lucia, New York, Rome, Venice, Barcelona and Berlin as destinations to watch out for.

Let's take a look at what some of these most popular locations can offer you in 2014:

Orlando is the ultimate family destination, boasting world-class theme parks and plenty of warm, sunny weather.

New attractions open every year, with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley at Universal Studios set to steal the show in 2014.

Las Vegas

This city that never sleeps is the adult equivalent of Disney World, with myriad attractions, from adrenalin pumping casino action to mind-boggling stage shows.

Among the new arrivals pencilled in for 2014 are the return to Sin City of hit musical 'Mamma Mia!' at The Tropicana from May; the opening of a 128ft-tall slot machine zip line ride in February; and Masaharu Morimoto of Iron Chef America fame cooking up a storm at his new Japanese restaurant at the Mirage.

This rapidly up-and-coming desert destination is likely to be even busier in 2014 following the opening of a brand new multi-runway airport late last year.

The record-breaking city - home to the planet's tallest building - also shattered the Guinness World Record for the largest ever fireworks display on New Year's Eve after launching an incredible 500,000 rockets, so expect plenty more extravagance in the coming year.ADNFCR-408-ID-801678173-ADNFCR
