Emirates' planes travelled the equivalent of 18,753 circumnavigations of the globe in 2013.

In what was an incredible 12 months for the airline, its jets covered 469m miles over a total of 164,635 flights, carrying more than 43m passengers.

These travellers were kept fed by the Emirates Flight Catering team, who loaded nearly 46m meals aboard planes departing Dubai, including a record-breaking 157,308 meals on 20 December alone.

During the course of 2013, the carrier added 24 aircraft to its fleet and opened the planet's first A380 terminal in Dubai, specially designed to handle the world's largest passenger plane. It also won the Skytrax award for World's Best Airline.

'We continue to raise the bar in the industry with investment, innovation and the expansion of our services globally, bringing unrivalled value for money to the millions who travel with us,' commented Tim Clark, president Emirates Airline.ADNFCR-408-ID-801678233-ADNFCR
