Leeds Bradford Airport looking to secure new airlines
10 Jan 2014

Leeds Bradford Airport is hoping to continue being one of the fastest growing airports in the UK by attracting new airlines in 2014.

Last year saw an 11% uptick in passenger numbers, with 3.3m people using the airport, and routes were opened up to Grenoble, Innsbruck, Split and Zante, among others. New services to Scandinavia are in the pipeline and the airport's commercial director Tony Hallwood told the Yorkshire Post that he is won't be resting on his laurels.

'We are always talking to new airlines about new opportunities,' he said. 'We want to secure more flying for the region. After significant growth in 2014, we need to make sure that all airlines ... bed in and are successful.'

Mr Hallwood is also looking to the Tour de France to boost growth this year, with the iconic bike race due to start in Leeds on 5 July. A second stage will then see the peloton travel from York to Sheffield. ADNFCR-408-ID-801680946-ADNFCR
