Emirates brings Pele on board

Emirates brings Pele on board
20 Jan 2014

With the World Cup approaching, football legend Pele has joined Emirates as one of the airline's global ambassadors.

The former Brazil forward will help the carrier 'showcase the connections that it creates between people, places and passions around the world' during a number of initiatives in the run up to the tournament.

It's the second time Emirates has signed a legend of the game to help promote it in World Cup year, with Pele following in the footsteps of Franz Beckenbauer, who joined the airline for its Germany 2006 campaign.

HH Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, divisional senior vice-president of commercial operations at Emirates said Pele was the 'ideal choice'.

'In many ways, Pele stands for the same values that Emirates does,' he commented.

Pele himself added: 'Having just flown on an Emirates A380 from Zurich to Dubai, I can say from personal experience that it is ... an outstanding airline.' ADNFCR-408-ID-801683894-ADNFCR
