The Chinese city of Chengdu is well on its way to becoming the destination of choice for international fairs, conferences and conventions, with various companies increasingly holding events there.

According to the Chengdu Bureau of Statistics, the metropolis hosted a whopping 502 major get-togethers for people of various interests and purposes throughout 2013 - a figure that is only set to increase throughout this year.

A direct income of 6.05 billion yuan was generated directly from those events, the bureau stated, while indirect income rose by 21.1 per cent to 51 billion yuan.

Prominent events held at the southwestern Chinese city during last year included the Fortune Global Forum and the 12th World Chinese Entrepreneur Convention, while the 15th Western China International Fair and the Michelin Challenge Bibendum are just some of those lined up for 2014.

The Chengdu municipal government has even gone as far as to release a set of new guidelines, specifically designed to improve management of the events.ADNFCR-408-ID-801685700-ADNFCR
