Airbus will come away from the 13th Dubai Airshow as a happy company, having reportedly won an astounding $44 billion of business during the duration of the event.

The order intake includes 142 firm orders, the air carrier reported, with Emirates placing the single largest commission for 50 additional A380s worth $20 billion.

Tripoli-based Lybian Wings also announced the start of its operations at the airshow, adding that it will be purchasing three A350-900s to start building its fleet.

John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer for customers commented on the news, saying that 'Middle Eastern carriers stand to reap the benefits of traffic growth'.

He added that the order values taken in Dubai are by far the company's largest and is clear evidence that the Middle East is investing particularly large sums of money into the most modern and efficient aircraft available.

Larger aircraft made up the bulk of the orders, a trend that is expected to continue as demand for flights grows across the world.ADNFCR-408-ID-801687975-ADNFCR
