First US Airways plane enters service for American
4 Feb 2014

The first US Airways plane rebranded as an American Airlines craft has entered service.

Yesterday (3 February), the Airbus A319, painted in the new American Airlines livery, took off from Charlotte to New York on flight 2060.

Rebranding is just one of a number of steps taken since the two carriers merged last year to form the world's largest airline.

'Today marks an important next step in our airlines' integration and is a tangible way for customers and employees to see the result of our progress first hand,' commented American Airlines president Scott Kirby.

It will take many months to repaint the remainder of the US Airways fleet, with each respray taking just under two weeks to complete.

In January, employees of the company voted to implement a new tail fin design based on the US flag, replacing the twin eagle design used by American for many years.ADNFCR-408-ID-801689835-ADNFCR
