British Virgin Islands unveils packed sailing calendar
5 Feb 2014

Fans of sailing who have to put up with the bitter winds and frigid waters off the coast of the UK, might want to take a look at the sailing events coming up this year in the British Virgin Islands.

The Caribbean archipelago enjoys average highs of 26 to 30C all year round - figures matched by the water temperature - and has an impressive programme lined up for 2014.

It includes the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, opening on 31 March, which will feature an International Yacht Club Challenge for 18 different sailing classes, offering something for everyone from experienced captains to seafaring beginners.

Apres-sail is almost as important as the action on the water during the regatta, with the Nanny Cay Resort and Marina serving up fine rums and live music once the sun has gone down.

Then on 17 and 18 May 2014, the BVI Dinghy Championships Regatta will see sailors competing in the Opti, Laser, 420, Bic and IC24 classes. ADNFCR-408-ID-801690223-ADNFCR
