Looking for romance? Book a flight to Paris
6 Feb 2014

With Valentine's Day little over a week away, it's still not too late to arrange a last minute city break to really impress that special someone in your life. But where to go? Well, it appears that for romance, the answer is the same as it's always been: Paris.

The City of Light's reputation as the city of love is just as strong as it's ever been, with a survey by tour specialist Paris Pass indicating that visitors feel the French capital is the most romantic city they've ever visited.

If you'd rather head somewhere different, other popular choices include the obvious candidates such as Venice and Rome, both of which were named by five per cent of respondents. However, to put that in context, a staggering 62 per cent said that Paris was the most romantic destination they'd ever visited.

Amanda Truman, director of product marketing for Paris Pas, said: "Destinations can sometimes be hyped up only to disappoint on arrival, but it's clear from our survey responses that this isn't true of Paris - visitors still believe it's the world's capital city of romance.

"Visiting the Eiffel Tower at night, taking a cruise on the Seine or strolling across the Pont des Artes are just the beginning. Even while sightseeing visitors to Paris will come across several other really romantic spots."

Once you've got your flights to Paris sorted, it's time to start working on the ultimate romantic itinerary. Why not check out the following of the city's top destinations?

Eiffel Tower - An obvious choice perhaps, but it really is the most iconic landmark in Paris, and one of the most visited places in the world. It will be incredibly busy on Valentine's Day, which falls on a Friday this year, so you may not want to queue for a trip up to the top. But even from the ground staring up, it's quite a sight to behold, as you walk between it's giant steel legs.

Stroll along the Seine - What could be more romantic than a pleasant moonlight stroll along the banks of the Seine River? If you want to go all out, then there are many boats for hire so you can cruise down it at a truly leisurely pace.

Pont des Artes - Make sure to bring a padlock with you if you visit this famous old bridge. Tradition dictates that couples should leave them, inscribed with their initials, as an enduring sign of their love.ADNFCR-408-ID-801690754-ADNFCR
