The searing heat of the Emirates is not somewhere you'd normally associate with ice cream making, but a new company is out to change all that.

Bobo Gelati, which began in Italy, has recently begun producing a range of ice creams in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, which it sells from an outlet on Airport Road.

Although their heritage is Venetian, the ice creams have a distinctly Middle Eastern twist, with camel's milk used to make date, lemon-mint and pistachio flavours.

The new taste sensations recently made an impression at Gourmet Abu Dhabi - winning praise from masterchefs Khulood Atiq and Marco Sacco.

'It's great that local products are being used in this way. I think it's got a great future,' said Sacco.

Commenting on the decision to open in Abu Dhabi, managing director Lorenzo Bo said: 'We had family here already and they convinced us there was a market.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801692187-ADNFCR
