A380 to take-off from Glasgow for 10th anniversary
13 Feb 2014

The world's largest airliner is set to make a one-off journey from Glasgow Airport.

An Emirates Airbus A380 will take-off for the first time from a Scottish airport to mark ten years of the carrier's presence in Glasgow.

Standing more than 24m high and with a wingspan of nearly 80m, the A380 require plenty of Glasgow's 2.7km-long runway to lift off.

On 10 April 2014, the special service, flight number EK028, will depart Glasgow at 3.35pm, arriving in Dubai the following day at 2am.

'As the largest A380 operator in the world, it is a historic moment to see one of our A380s take flight from Glasgow Airport for the first time,' commented Laurie Berryman, Emirates vice-president UK.

'It demonstrates our continued commitment to Glasgow and Scotland, which is an extremely important passenger and cargo market for Emirates.'

Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said it would be 'an exciting day' for the passengers onboard. ADNFCR-408-ID-801693228-ADNFCR
