Prince William leading fight to protect endangered species
13 Feb 2014

The Duke of Cambridge is leading the battle to save some of the world's most iconic species from the threat of poaching.

Today (13 February), Prince William will be among the delegates from across the world attending the London Conference on the Illegal Wildlife Trade 2014.

Not only is stopping the trade in ivory and other animal parts vital for saving endangered animals such as the rhino, elephant and tiger from extinction, it is key for securing the future of wildlife tourism in Africa.

Yesterday, speaking at the International Wildlife Trafficking symposium at London Zoo ahead of the conference, the prince said: 'Never before has a group like this come together … to stop the illegal trade in wildlife.

'All of us in this room have a duty to make sure that tomorrow, 13th February, is a date that marks the beginning of the end of this despicable trade.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801693226-ADNFCR
